Nigeria is made up of many ethnic groups speaking over 521 different languages. Over Sixty percent of the population lives in the rural areas. Their major occupation is farming.
The official language is English. The Colonial language is more popular in the cities where many ethnic groups from different parts of the country converge for business activities. All institutions study in English although some students may choose to specialize in other local and international languages at the end of their course.
The three major languages spoken in Nigeria today are Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. These languages are classified: Afro-asiatic, Nilo-Saharan and Kwa group of Niger- Congo. The Hausa inhabit the far North, Yoruba in the Western region and the Igbo in the Eastern region of Nigeria. Others are Urhobo, Ibibio, Fulfude, Tiv, Kanuri, Ijaw, Igala, Edo, Gbagy, Nupe and so on.

After the abolition of slave trade in 1807, by Williams Wilberforce, slaves were returned from Europe and America to Africa. They were dumped at the coastal lines of West Africa. The government of Great Britain set British Royal Navy to monitor the stoppage if slave business. Since 1807 to 1831, the Royal Navy was on the Atlantic Ocean to enforce compliance of the abolition. Some were liberated from the human cargo ship on their way to America and Europe. The returnees were so large that they formed a country called Liberia with the capital at Freetown. Those they dropped around areas like Ghana, Ivory Coast and others on the shorelines formed the various countries we have in Africa today. Those that were drpped at Badagry and Lagos areas infiltrated into Yorubas and made the population of Yorubas higher than any other ethnic group in Nigeria, therefore becoming a threat to the Igalas, the only most powerful Kingdom in Nigeria after defeating their brothers; Jukuns and Benin kingdom. Rumours started spreading that Yorubas would invade Idah because of their massive population. The response of the Igalas was: “We are their mother; mother cannot” (Awa ch'iye ma; Iye ajii) Interestingly, Hausa, Nupe and Egbira called them Iyaji or Eyagi. That is to say Hausa later had contact with Yorubas after Igala had named them. Iye (mother) is common to Igala and Edo. This research work took our team to the palace of Alafin Oyo where it was confirmed that the mother of Oramiyan was an Igala woman from Nupe-land. Oramiyan continued to rule Binis until he was dissatisfied with them. Apart from the language problem, he discovered that the people were full with many troubles. He (Oramiyan) left Benin to Oyo where he founded Oyo Empire and became the first Alaafin. Alaafin stool is number one traditional ruler in the whole of Yoruba land.

For his Masters Degree in Immunology, J.J Abdullahi enrolled in Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State, and then ended up with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Health Support Services at the Columbus international University in the United Kingdom.

Contribution in area of health

After leaving school, Dr. J.J Abdullah worked in private and public sectors of the Nigeria state. His stint at the National Institute for pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Idu-Abuja saw him concentrating efforts in researching into Herbal Medicines.

God crowned his effort with a break-through by way of discovery of Winniecure (Herbal Therapy) for the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Thousands of victims of the HIV/AIDS scourge both within and outside Nigeria have benefited tremendously from using the drug. Many Igala and other Kogi State indigenes are either completely free or heavily subsidized HIV drugs provided by him.

He is thus (through the Grace of God) a sustainer of life.
